PCs The New Unwanted Large Furniture

PC manufacturers Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Lenovo joined forces in a new 30 million dollar ad campaign in a desperate and futile attempt to bring back the popularity of PCs from their heyday of the 1990s. The joke back then was that as soon as your $2,000.00 PC was taken out of the box, a newer PC twice as powerful was on sale for the same price as the one you just purchased. There was some truth to that as the speed of growth was at an exponential clip never seen before and consumers were in essence getting screwed right and left. Craftier folks would order parts individually and put the computer together in what was termed a barebones PC. Less craftier folks would try to go that route and end up frying a staggering amount of motherboards and shorting out fragile processors and memory sticks. We then put the heaping pile of metal somewhere out of sight and buried the wires underneath a desk, but even left alone the wires would somehow manage to get tangled beyond belief. In fact, one would have to literally take a sick day from work and spend hours upon hours untangling PC wires. All this talk about PCs has made the team here at Futureslaver a bit nostalgic, but hey...., maybe the ad campaign will work.....  NOT.
