Biomedical engineer Robert Langer of MIT led a team, including researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital, beauty company Living Proof, and Olivo Labs. Second Skin is made of a silicone-based polymer which creates a breathable layer of skin that locks in moisture and appears to smooth and tighten skin. The invisible, wearable coating can last for up to 24 hours and is water proof.
The scientists working on this new invention have invested in the product and are rushing to get it released to the public. They even have actress Jennifer Anniston on board.
The people most likely to benefit the most from this product are the millions who deal with skin disease, such as psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. In a lot of cases skin diseases strike 1 in 10. Let us hope this becomes a practical medical solution - cheap and available to all, rather than highly expensive and only accessible to the rich.
In any event, you are going to have to watch out from now on. That hot chick you just made out with, she could be 100!
